Hosting parties around the holidays can be exciting, fun, and very stressful. If you’re going to have dozen of your close friends and family in your home, it is only natural to want to impress them. To do this, you’re going to want your home to be clean as a whistle.
But where do you start?
To help, we’ve compiled a checklist to help you get your home party-ready! This list isn’t meant to be the definitive list, but will likely need a bit of adaptation to your specific home.
The Week Before The Party
How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.
Don’t make the mistake of trying to clean everything the day before the party. The day before the party is always crazy busy because that’s when you realize all of the little things that need to be done to make your party perfect. By cleaning the week leading up to your party, you will significantly reduce your stress.
__Make sure your handsoap is full. If it needs to be replaced, consider replacing it with a festive scent.
__Make sure the toilet paper is fully stocked. Have at least one additional roll in the room.
__Replace the handtowels with fresh, clean ones.
__Clean the toilet bowl and seat.
__Clean the mirror with a streak-free window cleaner.
__Wipe the sink and faucet with a disinfectant wipe.
__Clean the lightswitch and doorknob with a disinfectant wipe.
__Vacuum your floors thoroughly.
__Have your carpets cleaned by a professional carpet cleaner.
__Sweep and mop any tile or linoleum flooring.
__Sweep and clean hardwood floors.
__Vacuum your upholstery. Your guests will likely want somewhere to sit when they’re in your home.
__Get your upholstery professional deep cleaned.
__Wipe down leather upholstery with a damp rag, then dry it with a dry rag.
__Clean all dishes in the sink.
__Wipe down countertops with a disinfectant wipe.
__Dust your appliances. Above the microwave, stove, and refrigerator are common areas for dust to gather.
__Wipe light switches and door handles with a disinfectant wipe.
The Day of The Party
__Spot check room for any additional cleaning
__Dust your shelves, television stand, windowsills, and blinds.
__Vacuum your curtains and drapes.
__Use a candle, candle warmer, or wall plugin to make your home smell pleasant.
__Protect your clean floors with a doormat outside your door and one more inside the door.
